Hair Loss Is A Major Problem With Locs.

Here are recent examples of my work.

The intention is to reduce the number of times you re-lock, automatically increasing potential density, simply because there is less disturbance to our follicles.

Re-locking 4 Times A Year, enables 100% scalp rest, encouraging maximum regeneration, hopefully leading to strand full recovery.

Hair Loss is a major problem with our Locs community.

Research

Please fully research your options before choosing your Loctician because sometimes it can be too late for severely traumatised locked up heads.

Take Pictures

Advise, take pictures and videos of your Locs and on a monthly basis, check your crown area, it's usually the first zone to display hair loss.

Wash Your Locs

Clearing your pores enables your scalp to breathe, this encourages growth, so washing you locs often is one of the best locs hygiene you can give your hair.

Elasticity

Maintaining the elasticity in your African Textured Hair gives your locs the body you wish for. Hydration is your secret sauce for your locs. It's great to be able to maintain that very individual kink in your locs, it all adds to celebrating, showcasing and you enjoying your locs texture. Wet your locs daily.

Oil

It's always best to simply how you use oil on your locs. You can apply oil daily from scalp to tip of locs, do this with water. You can wet your Locs, then oil very quickly, this daily action also helps keep each loc separated for longer. To keep things simple, use an oil with one ingredient for example, grapeseed, olive, peanut, coconut, almond etc.

The use of oil with a few drops of Ylang ylang or Peppermint, Lavender or Rosemary helps keep headlice at bay.

About

Melissa Blake

What drives me. Hair is identity. African Hair is in my family. Hair loss is increasing, the age range loosing their African Textured Hair as a direct result of traumatic hair styles including braids (heavy), wigs (suffocation) and weaves (tight) is rapidly getting younger!

My job is to explore the fact that, hair loss is on the rise and amongst younger African Textured Hair girls especially, why is this?

I believe there are two main reasons firstly questioning, hiding, and confusing our identity with fears nurtured by those in parental, mentoring or guardian roles. The result, is we work towards covering and hiding ourselves on a daily basis.

The second reason is hair styles including extensions, sisterlocks and loose natural hair styles are not practical therefore sustainable, neither satisfying or self empowering for countless young women. They continue bad practices into their adult lives becoming the fearful mentor, guardian or parent who endorsed the same repetitive bad hair practices.

Knotted Locs breaks this cycle.

Thank you for visiting My Knotted Locs Space, this is your space. A space, to help you understand what healthy #SmallSizeLocs #MediumSizeLocs

look like.

My experience covers a total of 17yrs, from wearing Sisterlocks where it all began for me learning about what mostly my hair & scalp doesn't like (i.e pain, no oil, tight pulling) to what it loves (water, oil, loosen re-locking).

I share everything I have learnt over the last 12yrs as a Loctician, I share it here. You do have to be patient with me as it's just me right now, responding to queries, working with clients and creating content.

My What's App does work, all enquiries will be responded to within 72hrs.

In the meantime, please do continue re visiting this space, send me direct questions via my chat or What's App.
