Melissa's training was thorough. She made everything easy to understand and she made certain that I was comfortable performing the technique. She is available if I have questions (I have had very few) and takes the time to contact me periodically to make sure I am not struggling in any way.
When I reached out to Melissa the hair loss in my crown area was at least 35% Thinning was occurring in other areas also. I had been watching her for years on youtube just because I liked her videos and her personality. I never thought I would be calling her for help! My hair was retightened (sisterlocs, interlocking method) every 8 weeks. My loctician really wanted to do 6 weeks but I refused. So thankful that I did!
I have been locked 5 years. My hair has grown to bra strap length. It is very soft, fine strands, low density.
I had noticed thinning but didn't realize it was so extensive until I saw the top of my head in a photo. I was stunned – even more so when I saw the video my husband made of my hair for Melissa's examination. I was astounded to see not just thinning but baldness in some areas.
God is gracious to me and my hair is growing back. My last retightening was 5 months ago. I believe my hair was retightened too often and too tight. We expect to see scalp after a retightening (because they tell us this is normal) so we don't realize that we have a problem.
Two things I would say to everyone -- check your crown area often and learn to do your own hair if you are experiencing hair loss. I was paying good money to have my hair snatched out bit by bit.
My last retightening was 5 months ago. Melissa's training has empowered me to be able to keep my locs and maintain my hair on my own. I was so afraid I was going to have to do the big chop and give up locs forever.
I highly recommend Melissa because she has been through all of this, she really cares, and is good at what she does. The way she sticks with you is like having her just around the corner. So thankful for technology!!!
